15 Questions Amy Vennema from a.v.max

I get inspiration from runway shows – there are so many genius designers at this moment in time!  I love Prada, Marni, Lanvin, and Balenciaga especially.  I am also inspired daily by my city- I live in Brooklyn and I work in the Garment District of NYC, I have always lived here and I love being in the hub, it is a vibrant, exciting place and the people here are incredibly creative in their ensembles – it is an art form all on it’s own!   And of course the museums!  My first career was as a painter.  Color still plays an important roll in my work.

The accessory I wear most is lately I can’t get enough of our new ear cuffs!  I wear a four row or a two row every day!  They are hinged and you can’t even feel you are wearing them.  I cut my hair short just to show off all my new earrings!

My guilty pleasure is Scandal, Homeland, Black List – there is too much good TV these days!

The gadget I can’t live without is my iPhone of course.  I call it my back-up brain.

My favourite city for shopping is NYC of course!!!

My favourite drink is an extra dirty vodka martini

My biggest style tip is wear what makes you feel good.  Fashion has more power than people think, a great outfit can give you the confidence to achieve your full potential!

The first thing I do when I wake up is feed my dog and cats

My essential jewellery item is besides my ear cuffs, I usually wear a chain wrapped stone pendant.  And a cuff.  And a delicate chain choker.  And ear jackets….

My beauty must have is mascara

If you look in my fridge you’ll always find oranges and grapefruits: I squeeze one each each morning and it is like a magical potion keeping me well all year round!

My favourite thing about being a designer is designing!  I love being able to create for a living.  I love that fashion is always changing…my problem is never having enough time, I always have too many ideas.

My all-time favourite designer is Muiccia Prada

My favourite holiday destination is my living room in Park Slope Brooklyn with my daughters’ home for the holidays.
